As previously explained. I will be continuing to work at MASH over summer, completing some things, such as portraits and a fun photo shoot with staff, as well as a photo shoot and make-over day with the service users.
I will be putting together a book (which i have already began to construct in the most basic sense)
the book will be for use in the center and at open days when MASH go to explain what they offer. This will also contain a section aimed at the girls and information on keeping safe ect.
My working title for the book is "the light at the end of the tunnel" Mainly due to the connotations of the sentence but also due to the ironic placement of the center... at the end of a large tunnel.
I have also been speaking to the organisers about workshops and I came up with an idea inspired by the Boyle family. I suggested a large map and darts where girls get given a specific location, then in a group we all go out and photograph that area and create a body of work collectively, These activities will be documented photographically for promotion and the end product will be an exhibition. much like the photo shoot and make-over day where their images will be framed and displayed around the center in a mini exhibition format and documented photographically. then the women can keep their images or give them to loved ones(many of whom are in prison)
I am also going to propose another studio like session where the women could maybe bring their children in and get a nice photo to keep - I will have t discuss if this is possible.
